Who Can Nominate?

  • Governments of UNESCO Member States, through their Permanent Delegations to UNESCO, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in official collaboration with UNESCO may make up to three nominations. Self-nominations are not accepted.

Who can be nominated?

  • Individuals, institutions, and organizations that promote girls’ and women’s education are eligible for nomination.
  • Nominations must focus on the candidate’s established initiative or programme that has been running for at least two years and fits the selection requirements.

How can I get nominated?

  • Self-nominations are not accepted. If you, your institution, or organization match the selection requirements, please contact your country’s National Commission for UNESCO or a suitable NGO in official partnership with UNESCO.
  • National Commissions and Permanent Delegations to UNESCO can access the online submission platform via their official UNESCO account at http://unesco.org/gwe.
  • NGOs in official collaboration with UNESCO will be provided immediate access to the online platform upon request by the Secretariat. To request access, please email GWEPrize@unesco.org.
