Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship For International Students – Apply

Description

The Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarships (AGRTPS) (International) are designed to assist international students in pursuing a Higher Degree by Research at Flinders University. The AGRTPS offers overseas tuition cost reimbursement, a living allowance, and Overseas Health Care coverage.

Please keep in mind that the AGRTPS is a Commonwealth-sponsored scholarship.

Each year, a limited number (up to 5) of AGRTPS are available, and the scholarship process is quite competitive. The AGRTPS is given to applicants who have demonstrated an exceptional capacity for independent research. Academic merit, academic research training, and research indicators and performance are all taken into account when selecting AGRTPS.

The scholarship is renewable for a maximum of three years for a Research Doctorate and a maximum of two years for a Research Masters degree. Successful applicants must study full-time and be starting a higher degree by researching in Australia for the first time.

Benefits

  • The AGRTPS pays a stipend at the Australian Government’s regular rate of $28,854 per year, tax-free (2022 full-time rate). The AGRTPS also includes a spot in a Research Training Program (RTP), which covers tuition for up to four years.
  • An AGRTPS student who relocates to Adelaide from another country is eligible for an establishment stipend of up to $1,485 (after arrival at Flinders) to help with relocation fees and airfares, providing receipts can be supplied.

Eligibility

  • Awards are generally only accessible to persons who meet the following criteria: 
  • Are a citizen of any nation other than New Zealand and do not have Australian citizenship, Australian permanent resident status, or New Zealand citizenship; and
  • In the year for which the award is to be offered, intend to begin full-time study for a higher degree by researching in Australia for the first time. 
  • Students who started their higher degree by research the previous year but were unable to apply for an AGRTPS because of the timing of their application for admission and subsequent enrolment, or who started a higher degree by research but dropped out within six months of starting, may be considered.
  • Intend to enrol in a research concentration area. These are areas where the University has a special strength, where it has concentrated its research resources, where it has garnered external financing; and
  • Satisfy all entry requirements for a higher degree by research, including English proficiency levels following the HDR English Language Proficiency Requirements.

Selection Criteria

  • The Scholarships Committee will select grant recipients based on academic merit and research potential. 
  • The University’s Guidelines for Ranking Postgraduate Research Scholarship Applications will be used to rank applications.
  • Students pursuing a higher degree through research for the first time will be given precedence by the University.

Application Information:

  • To apply for an AGRTPS and FIPRS, you must first apply for admission to a Higher Degree by Research (PhD or Master of Arts by Research), then 
  • Apply for the International RHD Scholarship Group.
  • You do not need to apply for admission to a Higher Degree by Research if you already have a valid offer.

  • After you have read the information, you should register here:

  • After completing registration, you will be able to return to that portal to complete your admissions application.
  • A Flinders student ID is generated within one hour of a registration being filed; make a note of this number.
  • You must activate your account using the Student ID from your registration and the date of birth you supplied when you registered: https://activate.flinders.edu.au/main
  • After you’ve activated your account, you’ll be given a Flinders Authentication Name (FAN), which you can use to apply for the international HDR scholarship group.
  • Log in to your OKTA dashboard using the Flinders website’s quick buttons. 
  • Choose Student System.
  • Choose the My Scholarship option.
  • Choose the button Create a new scholarship application.
  • Choose 2023 from the search results and then the International RHD Scholarship Group.
  • Your application will be evaluated after it is complete, including all essential questions and documentation. Once applications are closed, sn evaluation will begin.
