Description
The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering’s (ATSE) Elevate: Boosting Women in STEM initiative will grant up to 500 undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships to women in STEM over six years. The Elevate Program intends to address gender disparities in STEM by encouraging more women-led industry-academia collaborations in applied research and business, developing women’s professional abilities in STEM, and propelling women into leadership.

Scholarship value
Undergraduate scholarships are limited to $30,000, postgraduate research scholarships to $82,000, and leadership scholarships to $70,000.

Benefits
The scholarship sum will not exceed the total award amount: $30,000 for an undergraduate scholarship, $82,000 for a postgraduate research scholarship, and $70,000 for a leadership scholarship.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet three eligibility criteria:
- Identify as a woman or non-binary individual
- Enrol as a domestic student.
- Plan to start a STEM degree, PhD, or higher studies at an Australian institution in 2024 to increase your commercial acumen.
ATSE particularly encourages applications from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people, people from regional, rural, or remote areas, LGBTQIA+ people, people from culturally or linguistically diverse backgrounds, people from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and people with disabilities. The assessment and selection process will take into account diversity, inclusiveness, and achievement relative to opportunity.
Selection Criteria
An expert selection committee comprised of STEM leaders with different backgrounds and lived experiences who are reflective of the STEM ecosystem will evaluate eligible applications. The panel will assess the variety of applications as well as the applicant’s responses and discipline of study.
This committee will be in charge of recommending Elevate scholarship candidates.
